Fashion is continuously transforming – pieces can be in today, and out tomorrow. But that’s the very thing I love about fashion. You are constantly being introduced to new, innovative ways to express yourself through what you put on your body. While there are fashion brands that I am forever loyal too, it’s always exciting to discover a brand that speaks to my style or pushes me to experiment. Here are some of the brands I’m loving right now:
Waffles N Cream
Known as Nigeria’s first skate crew, Waffles N Cream is a streetwear brand that aims to bring awareness to Nigerian skating culture. The founders recognize the obscurity of the skating scene and are working to give proceeds to the skaters and their lifestyle. The brand aims to “connect streetwear, skate, and social impact.”
De La Vali
Inspired by their beautiful Ibizan environment, Jana Sascha and Laura Catro founded their boutique fashion label, De La Vali. This exceptional label is best known for creating collections with “Spanish flare and daring silhouettes.” From chic evening gowns to statement jackets, De La Vali is definitely the place to shop if you’re looking to add some versatile, yet coveted, pieces to your wardrobe.
Founded by 25-year-old Lana Johnson, Orseund Iris is often referred to as the “season-less” brand because of its ability to find the intersection between timeless fashion and modern style. The brand has been an Instagram favourite, as seen on insta-stars Bella Hadid, and Nicola Anne Peltz. Personally, I love how Johnson describes the “Orseund Iris woman” as “strong, independent, resilient, unapologetic.” Not only is the collection cool as hell, but it also manages to bring cutting edge fashion into everyday life.
Katherine Hamnett X Duvetica
Duvetica is an Italian outwear brand that designs jackets with a seamless combination of design, comfort, and lightness. In August, they announced that they’d be collaborating with another brand I’m loving at the moment: Katherine Hemnett. The merging of Duvetica’s proficiency in outerwear designs and Hemnett’s love for natural resources and social messaging, this collection is comprised of “fully sustainable pieces, with no compromises in quality nor in style.”
