The eighties remains one of the decades that continues to inspire my fashion. Fashion followers know the eighties as the ‘GLAM’ decade, it was rich in electric neon colour, animal prints, power suiting, shoulder pads, (love or hate them they are still iconic) and of course sequins in abundance. The eighties were all for women embracing the strength of their own unique beauty and not being afraid to express their personalities.
Here, I’m wearing a maxi backless Matthew Williamson dress, which I adore; the colours are subtle which gives the dress a timeless elegance. Matthew Williamson is a classic London designer, his collections are known for print, embellishment and kaleidoscopic colours. This summer I am sure that London’s most stylish will take to sporting the trend of sequins, after all, sequins can be effortlessly styled into everyday streetwear. If you feel inspired to get out your sequined garments, my top tip for pulling off this dazzling trend would be to keep your hair and makeup looks minimal if you are opting for all-over sequins – if you’re using sequins to accessorise then try creating a more playful hair and makeup look.
