Lipstick can elevate your look and accentuate your facial features. That is why it is so important to choose the right formula of lipstick but also the right shade. As a black woman, at times, I struggled to find the “perfect lipstick”. Here are some of my all-time favourite lipsticks for black women – no need to stress about the shades being too light or the textures too heavy, these 6 picks are unarguably the best of the bunch.

Bobbi Brown – Pink 6

Let’s start with the brand that has always offered options for black women, Bobbi Brown, a go-to beauty brand, if you’re looking for a lipstick that will take you from day to night then this long-wearing one in shade ‘Pink 6’ will go above and beyond for you. Easily gliding on lips, this semi-matte lipstick offers an instant polish with rich pigment that adds a warm punch to your pout. Add a clear gloss over the top if you’re looking to sass this shade up.

Shu Uemura – Rouge M RD 163

A texture that ‘melts on the lips’ this really could pass as the lipstick of dreams. Colour wise our top pick is Rouge M RD 163, the skin-loving formula boasts the finest balance of yellow and blue tones which enhance your complexion, dependent on your mood you can choose from 3 different finishes; lacquer shine to give that wet-look finish, matte which remains creamy and moisturizing in texture but gives you the versatility to wear this shade day-to-day or, satin, which uses Japanese Camellia oil to give a silky-smooth finish and long-term moisture. If you want to try a new lipstick this season then this is a strong pick!
