TALAK: Sharp Tailoring With an African Influence

I’m so excited to share the photos from my shoot with the recently launched womenswear and menswear brand, TALAK. TALAK was formed by the lovely and talented Alakija triplets (yes, triplets!), who will be soon be launching TALAK’s debut collection. Although the brand was founded in the UK, it beautifully incorporates custom-made African inspired prints to define what authentic contemporary fashion means today. I would also say that TALAK’s speciality is combining soft tailoring with simple, but opulent silhouettes.

I can’t remember the last time I wore a blazer with matching suit trousers, but as you can see in the photos below, I just hadn’t found one as chic and wearable as TALAK’s double breasted version. I also love how TALAK is not afraid to play with unconventional silhouettes like their scalloped single-sleeved blazer, which I chose to layer but is equally stunning with a bare arm. This shoot really shows the unique nature of each of their pieces, as I also wore the “Logos Blue Coat” – any fashion girl’s dream. The drama, structure, and print of the coat is everything I look for in a statement piece.

Although TALAK’S passion was derived in 2013 it has now been fully developed in 2017, and TALAK are now ready to provide their clients with luxurious, statement garments. The JENESISI SS18 collection will be released this September and it portrays a message of new beginnings. The detailed architecture from a new Nigerian Catholic church inspired the JENESISI collection, which incorporates its modern structure, clean lines, and unusual shape. I’m sure you’re as excited as me to watch the TALAK journey unfold over the course of 2017, so make sure you follow their Instagram – @talak_
