This time last year I sat in this very same chair, at this very same desk, reflecting on what the past year had given me and what I hoped to give 2018. This is truly cliché to say but I really can’t believe 365 days have passed since that moment. This sense of urgency, this understanding that time can pass us without even noticing, has changed the way I tackle each day. Daily life with intent has become so paramount because I see how quickly a year can hurtle; how quickly five years can hurtle…
I didn’t set resolutions for 2018 as you can read about (here). Instead, I set intentions, small aims that I planned well in advance and gave myself deadlines to hit. The aim of finishing my dissertation was executed by writing a small amount daily. The aim of getting in more exercise was executed by gradually adding more minutes and reps to my workouts, and so on.
During 2018 I was more forgiving with the tasks that I didn’t manage and prioritised what really mattered. What lets my mind feel calm, what makes my body feel good, what gives me a good night sleep? Those were the things I nourished and grew on. I also learnt that what feels good in the short term, doesn’t always feel so good in the long term (late night fast food runs have decreased exponentially and so have late nights). Each year has become a learning curve, and I can’t wait to find out what I will learn in the coming year.
Last year I shared my “Intentions: for the year (here), so here is the 2019 edition.
Temi’s 2019 Intentions
Fully stride into my new life as a full-time blogger.
Continue to cultivate my creative voice.
Look after my body with exercise, good food and meditation.
Compete with myself and myself only. #Iammyonlycompetition.
I’ll be stepping into 2019 with these intentions and would love to hear what you’ll be prioritising for 2019. Happy New Year my friends.
