On the 17th of March I hosted an intimate afternoon tea with Bulgari. To watch highlights from the tea click (here). I have always been a huge fan of the brand so it was an honour to collaborate on a small gathering in their beautiful flagship store. What does Bulgari mean to me? Glamour, elegance and Italian sophistication – think Sophia Loren and other classic beauties. Therefore, there’s no surprise that the theme of the day was ‘Italian Glamour’, with my guests snacking on traditional Italian deserts and sipping pink champagne for a few hours of culinary indulgence and luxurious jewels.
The Bulgari New Bond Street flagship was designed by renowned architect Peter Marino. I had first been to apartment space last summer for the store launch, which you can read about (here). During the JTO X Bulgari afternoon tea, I was especially lucky as another esteemed architect, Zara Hadid, currently has an exhibition on show in the store. Hadid famously designed the London Olympic stadium, and has recently teamed up with Bulgari, designing a limited edition necklace and ring (here).
Anyway, let’s return to the JTO tea. Another special aspect of the afternoon was the Bulgari Virtual Reality experience. This was my first time trying out VR, and I have to say I was a surprised and impressed about how real it actually feels. The customised Bulgari VR takes you through the Italian landscape whilst using hand sensors to snatch Bulgari rings – if only VR rings translated into real ones!
But what was my favourite part of the tea? That’s easy – it would have to be the stunning emerald and diamond set I wore with my Oscar de la Renta Dress. I could choose a different moment but… Diamonds have a way of clouding over your mind and heart. I would like to thank everyone who came to celebrate this divine afternoon with me. I also want to say an immense thank you to Bulgari and especially Jenny and Franziska – you made the day breathtaking and unforgettable, something straight out of an Italian fairy tale.
