I’m always on the hunt for new brands, especially labels which celebrate African culture. I simultaneously have a growing appreciation for the power of jewellery to elevate even my everyday looks – and that all seems thanks to my new found treasure – Adele Dejak. Adele Dejak is a Kenyan accessory brand that is inspired by African shapes and textures. I’m particularly drawn to their jewellery which is perfect for anyone who likes to make a real show with accessorising, or even those that like to throw on a single statement piece.

What I love most about Adele Dejak is their positioning as a proudly African brand that reflects the much lacking ‘luxury end’ of the jewelry industry in Africa. Even the beautiful Lesso bags their pieces come packaged in (see below) are locally sourced. The bags are cut and stitched at the Adele Dejak showroom in Nairobi by their tailors. This means that everything, including packaging, is completely hand made. I’m all for beautiful things, but I think fashion should also have a conscience. A beautiful ring or necklace is made even more beautiful when it tells a story that is important to me. Plus, every Adele Dejak piece feels unique and portrays the modern, but traditional aesthetic I love to play with.
